GreyStone Power is giving three teens an opportunity to experience the fast-paced world of politics and leadership in Washington, D.C. Samuel Noonan of Douglasville, Davis Ondieki of Dallas and Nathan Riediger of College Park have been selected to attend the 2020 Washington Youth Tour, sponsored nationally by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and statewide by the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation. South Fulton Restauranteur Gocha Hawkins to Open Tapas Bar

Gocha Hawkins, owner of Gocha’s Breakfast Bar, has plans to open a tapas bar in April. The new restaurant will be located at 5829 Campbellton Rd. in the Sandtown Crossing development anchored by Publix. The restaurant will have a 1,500-square-foot interior and a 2,100-square-foot patio. Among the items planned for the menu include shishito peppers, Impossible sliders, stuffed crab mushrooms, fried green tomatoes with crab salad, cauliflower tacos and lobster rolls. The tapas bar will also have a full bar and cocktail list. City of South Fulton officials have named members to the city’s two Main Street Boards serving the Red Oak and Old National business districts. Each advisory board consists of seven board members with the initial appointments serving terms of one two and three years. Each subsequent appointment will serve a three-year term. The boards manage several tasks, including promoting and marketing their districts; making policy recommendations and encouraging high quality design, maintenance, renovation and repurposing of historic buildings. Development Authority to Hear Senior Housing Proposal on June 28

The South Fulton Development Authority (dba Envision South Fulton) is scheduled to meet virtually June 28 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be streamed live on the City of South Fulton's YouTube channel. The meeting agenda includes a presentation on a senior housing development proposal and discussion on website enhancements and related community outreach. Community Rallies to Support Ponder’s Cleaners Amid Financial Hardship

Ponder's Cleaners has been open on Campbellton Road for decades. But due to financial hardship caused by the pandemic, the business is in jeopardy of closing. The family-owned business applied for COVID-19 relief funds, but didn't receive them. Leigh Johnson shared the news on social media this week. Her grandmother, Margaret, opened Ponder's 60 Minute Cleaners 40 years ago.
