South Fulton Shows Appreciation for First Responders

Firefighters made the day a little more special by pulling the fire engine out of the station so that the youngsters could have a closer look and take photos. Calling All Mentors: Urgent Need for Big Brothers and Sisters in South Fulton

A decision about how the city will proceed will be made during a special called meeting at 3 p.m. this afternoon. For six decades, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) has transformed the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in the local community through mentoring. But unfortunately, the number of children on the waitlist is now outpacing the number of mentors stepping up to volunteer. In South Fulton alone, nearly 200 youth are waiting to be paired with a mentor in the program. This year the City of South Fulton is partnering with BBBSMA to try and help close the gap. South Fulton Dad’s Hand Sanitizer Tutorial a Lesson in Creative Parenting

Fulton County Schools remain closed today after a teacher tested positive for coronavirus. And while most students will return to classes tomorrow, today parents are busy finding creative ways to keep them occupied. Torrey Tomlinson, a South Fulton dad and entrepreneur, decided to give his daughter a lesson in making homemade hand sanitizer. The tutorial combined science and math, and offered a handy alternative for families who may have found their local stores to be limiting purchase quantities or out of stock. Tomlinson and his daughter, Taylor, used one-third cup of aloe vera gel, two-thirds cup of rubbing alcohol and essential oils just for scent. He says, “It’s just like the real deal.” In addition to its practical classroom application, Tomlinson’s tutorial also offers a...

From the start, she distinguished herself from her competitors by using her mental health background to empower her customers to use art for self-care. Plus, she began looking for ways to scale her business by applying for accelerator programs. Within a few months, her company was selected for the Main Street Entrepreneurs Seed Fund. The fund was established last year with a grant from The Marcus Foundation and is overseen by the Georgia State Universi...
