Commissioner Arrington to Honor Original ‘Black Panther’ Artist

Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. and the Auburn Avenue Branch of the Fulton County Library System will host "The Color of Comics: Behind the Black Panther" on August 31. The event will honor Billy Graham, the late artist who was the first African-American to draw both the Black Panther and Luke Cage characters for Marvel in the 1970’s. Several panels and group discussions are also planned. Topics to be explored include Black femininity and masculinity in American comics. Boulevard CID to Discuss Improvements, Expansion at Sept. 5 Meeting

The Fulton Industrial Boulevard CID will hold its next quarterly meeting on September 5. Representatives from Fulton County will discuss proposed improvements for Fulton County Airport - Charlie Brown Field. An estimated $120 million is expected to be invested throughout the next decade and beyond. The presentation will also detail other district investments, including $3 million in road surfacing projects in 2019 and an expected $4 million in 2020. Other updates to be provided include details on the intersection improvements at Cascade Road and Fulton Industrial Blvd. and information on the CID's recent expasion to the Donald Lee Hollowell and I-285 interchange. Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors will implement a closure and detour at Creek Pointe Way and Camp Creek Parkway for approximately two days to install a 30’’ drain for the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) project at I-285 and Camp Creek Parkway. Creek Pointe Way runs behind several popular businesses and restaurants across from the Camp Creek Marketplace, including Starbucks, The U Bar, Regions Bank and Taco Bell. Traffic Shift at I-285 and Camp Creek Planned for June 10

Work crews for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) plan to implement a traffic shift in conjunction with on-going construction of the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) project at I-285 and State Route 6/ Camp Creek Parkway in Fulton County.  Weather permitting, on Monday, June 10, crews will shift traffic access to the lanes on the south side of the DDI bridge. Shifting existing traffic from the bridge’s north side will allow crews to begin work on the north side, while traffic flows on the south side lanes.  Message boards and signage will alert drivers of the traffic shift.One center lane will continue to be closed, ensuring safety for workers and drivers as construction continues.  Once complete, it is expected that the I-285 at Camp Creek DDI will increase...

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) crews will implement overnight lane closures this weekend in conjunction with ongoing construction of the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) project at I-285 and State Route 6/ Camp Creek Parkway in Fulton County. Weather permitting, these are the scheduled lane closures on I-285 northbound at the Camp Creek Parkway exit: Two right lanes will be closed overnight from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31 until 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, and Two left lanes will be closed overnight from 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 until 4:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3. Traffic will be paced on I-285 northbound at Camp Creek when work crews are ready to remove the exit bridge overhang.
