South Fulton Public Meetings, Location and Date Changes Announced

The City of South Fulton has announced a series of public meetings, as well as location and date changes. The next CZIM (Community Zoning Information Meeting) will take place today, Feb. 6, 2020 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at a new location, the  South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road. The purpose of this informal meeting is provide opportunity for the community to ask questions and/or express concerns to the applicant.   The application, M20-001 (Madhouse Sports Bar & Grill, 5280 Old National Hwy.), is a request to modify condition 1.a (Z83-94 SFC), to increase the allowable maximum square footage from 2,400 square feet to 3,390 square feet to allow for an 990 square foot outdoor patio space. South Fulton Development Authority Sets Agenda for Jan. 27

The South Fulton Development Authority will hold its first meeting of the year on Monday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at Fairfield Inn & Suites, 7775 Ella Lane. The meeting agenda includes discussion of the 2020 regular meeting schedule, supplemental training, a budget amendment and a proposed mixed-use development project to be anchored by Hyatt on Old National Highway. A substitute officer appointment will also be brought forth following the resignation of Shelly Lamar. Public comment will take place at the end of the agenda. South Fulton to Hold Special Called Meeting on Dec. 27

South Fulton's Mayor and City Council will hold a special called meeting on Friday, Dec. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at City Hall, 5440 Fulton Industrial Blvd. The meeting agenda includes discussion regarding the Mayor's veto of the hearing officer section of Resolution 2019-060 and his veto of Agreement 2019-032 Professional Services Agreement for City Attorney. The vetoes were issued on Friday, Dec. 20. Resolution 2019-060 set a hearing on Dec. 30 to investigate the roles Mayor Bill Edwards and Councilwoman Helen Willis played in a development deal between Halperns' Steak and Seafood and the Development Authority of Fulton County. Meeting Called to Finalize Details for Second Investigative Hearing

The City of South Fulton will hold a special called meeting on December 16 at 3 p.m. at City Hall, 5440 Industrial Boulevard. It will be held in the break room. The purpose of the meeting is to finalize the details for the second investigative hearing targeting Councilmember Helen Willis. She is accused of steering a development deal away from the South Fulton Development Authority to Fulton County and creating a hostile work environment. The board of directors of the South Fulton Convention & Visitors Bureau will hold its inaugural meeting on Friday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at City Hall (5440 Fulton Industrial Boulevard) in Conference Room 169. A resolution to form the bureau was passed by the city council earlier this month. Its role is to solicit groups, conventions, meetings, tradeshows, exhibits, sports tournaments and other special events and attract overnight tourists. 13 individuals in total have been appointed to serve on the bureau’s board. They will establish operating policies and have the power to transact all business and manage the bureau’s affairs. The Fulton County Board of Education will meet tomorrow, September 19, at the district’s South Learning Center, located at 4025 Flat Shoals Road in Union City. South Fulton Announces Budget Hearing Dates

The city of South Fulton will hold two public hearings on the proposed FY2020 budget. The first will take place on September 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the South Fulton Service Center (5600 Stonewall Tell Road). The second hearing and final adoption will take place on September 18 at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall (5440 Fulton Industrial Boulevard). The proposed budget is $105,912,402. The figure includes: General Fund: $73,821,952Hotel Mote: $240,000Solid Waste: $560,000Restricted Grants: $4,198,772Capital Investments: $9,499,348TSPLOST: $17,592,330 Any person wishing to be heard on the budget can do so at either of the hearings.
