South Fulton Police Adds Cruisers as New Beat Design Puts More Officers on the Street

The South Fulton Police Department will soon add 41 new cruisers to its fleet to support its updated police beat design. City council members accepted a 48-month purchase agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management capped at $2.1 million. Police Chief Keith Meadows said the agreement will help South Fulton officers focus on proactive patrolling. Earlier this year, Meadows unveiled a new beat alignment developed with Georgia Tech. Station No. 15 Closed, Firefighters Quarantined after Responding to Coronavirus Patient

South Fulton firefighters who responded to a 911 call at Bear Creek Middle School on Friday have been quarantined. The school called for emergency responders after a teacher fell ill. That teacher has since tested positive for coronavirus, prompting Fulton County Schools to close all offices and schools today. All of the firefighters who responded to the call have been quarantined at their homes for a total of 14 days per the direction of the City’s Medical Director Dr. James Augustine. None of the firefighters are displaying signs or symptoms of the virus. South Fulton Police Seek Help Identifying Burglary Suspects

The South Fulton Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying two men caught on video surveillance earlier today during a suspected burglary. Officers responded to a residence located in the 6300 block of Polar Fox Court where suspects fired shots into the home, injuring a small dog. The suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan. Update: Body of Anitra Gunn Recovered

Update/ Story Developing: According to the GBI, the body of Anitra Gunn has been recovered in Crawford County near the Peach-Crawford county line. The Fort Valley Police Department has arrested 23-year-old DeMarcus Little of Fort Valley, Ga. He is charged with criminal damage to property stemming from events on Feb. 5. The offenses occurred in the city limits of Fort Valley and Anitra Gunn was the victim. Gunn's apartment windows were smashed and tires were slashed on her vehicle. More charges may be forthcoming. Operation Rolling Thunder Yields More Than 60 Arrests, Stolen Vehicle Recovered

The South Fulton and Fairburn police departments launched Operation Rolling Thunder over Super Bowl weekend with help from the Georgia State Patrol. The multi-day traffic enforcement campaign, a first for South Fulton, targeted a variety of violations, including speeding, drunk driving and distracted driving. According to an update from the Georgia Office of Highway Safety, the operation yielded over 60 arrests, including 32 DUI arrests, 19 drug arrests and 10 felony arrests. Additionally, one stolen vehicle was recovered. Nearly 400 citations were issued, including 196 seat belt, 55 child safety seat, 103 distracted driving and 22 suspended license citations. Missing Person Update: Family Reports Missing Woman Has Been Found

UPDATE: Ms. Walker's family has reported that she has been found. A local family is asking for help in the search for 71-year-old Sandra Walker, a South Fulton woman who has been missing since Monday. She suffers from mental impairment. She was last seen at her home in the 2000 block of Flat Shoals Road in the Old National corridor. She was wearing a black and grey coat, black pants, black and white Adidas shoes and a black head wrap. She was carrying several bags. Her family says that they are growing increasingly concerned as bad weather hits the area, and they have no additional leads on where to search. City of South Fulton officials have partnered with the American Red Cross to activate Welcome All Park as a shelter for more than 60 people who lost their homes in a fire.
