Banneker High School Names Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Banneker High School has announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020. Myesha Mateen and DeShayla Dixon are the school’s top scholars. Mateen has worked hard to earn the top spot. In addition to maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, she's held multiple leadership positions, including class president and student government president. She's also served as chief science officer for her high school and vice president of hospitality and tourism for her school's DECA chapter. Additionally, the three-year varsity volleyball captain was recognized on Second Team Region 6 5A twice as a middle hitter. Lack of PPE Prompts Fulton Schools to Limit Meal Distribution

Fulton County Schools (FCS) will resume distance learning next week, but meal distribution will be limited. Due to recently released precautions from the CDC, all employees will be required to wear masks. Due to limited quantities of available masks, meal distribution has been cancelled next week on Monday and Friday. Meals will be provided on Wednesday, April 15 only from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all 21 designated locations. According to a statement released by FCS, school administrators are working to the balance the needs of students and the health of employees. Westlake Honors Entire Senior Class with Billboard Campaign

Westlake High School administrators are making sure that the members of this year's graduating class know that they are loved, and that their accomplishments haven't been overlooked. In a video announcement released earlier today, Principal Jamar Robinson said that all students will be featured in an electronic billboard campaign. The four-week campaign, which launched on April 7, will first feature the top 25 academic performers in the senior class, including Valedictorian Malana Mullen, Salutatorian Jayla Sparks and Star Senior Aaron Johnson, along with Star Student Joaquin Taylor. Langston Hughes High School has announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020. D'Neil James and Cydney Johnson are the school's top scholars. Valedictorian D'Neil James has been a consistent academic leader and currently maintains a 4.0 GPA. In May, the dual enrollment scholar will get both her high school diploma and her associate's degree from Georgia Military College having successfully completed 81 credits hours.
