Mark your calendar for September 12, 2019 for Hammonds House Honors at the Southwest Arts Center. Hammonds House Honors is a celebration and recognition of excellence in Black visual art. In its inaugural year the museum remembers iconoclast photographer Roy DeCarava on the 100th Anniversary of his birth and honor seven individuals who elevate the visual art of the African Diaspora through their passion, creativity and commitment to artistic and cultural excellence.
24 individuals have been nominated in the following categories: Lifetime Achievement, Emerging Artist, The Creators, Artistic Excellence, Curatorial Excellence, The Spriggs-Fuller Award for Arts Leadership and the O.T. Hammonds Philanthropy in the Arts Award.
