The search continues for 23-year-old Anitra Gunn. The Westlake alumna and Fort Valley State University senior was last seen in the Chestnut Road area just outside of Fort Valley, Ga. on Feb. 14 at approximately 11:30 p.m.

The Fort Valley Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Peach County Sheriff’s Department and GBI.

“If any harm has befell this young lady, the arrest and prosecution of the subject or subjects responsible will be of the highest priority for all agencies,” said Fort Valley Police Chief Lawrence Spurgeon.

Gunn’s family last spoke with her on Feb. 14 and alerted authorities when they were unable to reach her the next day. WMAZ-TV reports that her vehicle was found on Feb. 15 with a damaged bumper and her wallet inside. Her phone was also found at a different location which has not yet been disclosed to Gunn’s family by police. The facts surrounding the case have prompted the authorities to launch a special task force.

“We would like for all the involved investigating agencies to pool their resources together and work as one on this case,” said Chief Spurgeon. “One of the historical problems with investigation of cases that span multiple jurisdictions has been that the investigations are often haphazard, disjointed, and frequently done in ignorance of the the individual agencies investigative acts and other agencies previous investigations involving the victim. We have formed this task force in order to alleviate any of those issues.”

Gunn is described as 5-foot-7, 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing an olive green bomber jacket with black trim, a tan long-sleeve t-shirt and a skirt.

Anyone with information or leads should call the Fort Valley Police Department at 478-825-3384.
