South Fulton Officials Host Holiday Gala, Toy Drives and More

Santa is coming to town, literally. And residents will have an opportunity to take free photos with him at South Fulton’s inaugural Holiday Extravaganza on December 21 at 4 p.m.

The event will be held at the South Fulton Tennis Center, 5645 Mason Road. Hosted by V103’s Greg Street, it will include a holiday train, refreshments and a market for last minute gift-buying. Music will be provided by DJ Jelly and the 911 band featuring Kasper,

“We’re excited to host this family-friendly event for our residents, said Mayor William “Bill” Edwards. “We want everyone to experience the joy of the holiday season!”

“The holiday extravaganza is a wonderful opportunity to bring our city together,” said Tony Phillips, Director, City of South Fulton Parks and Cultural Affairs. “Families, children, seniors and everyone can celebrate this time of year in the city’s first holiday event,”

Leading up to the extravaganza, several city councilmembers will also host holiday events.

Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs is hosting her third annual Bring Out the Dolls event today at St. James Live! Guests are asked to bring a doll or a donation of $40 for the purchase of a doll. The red carpet begins at 7:30 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Urban Soul, DJ Rhino, and Quinn and The Jukebox Band. The event benefits the Social Justice Cafe for Girls.

Councilwoman Naeema Gilyard is hosting her Holiday Celebration tonight at 7 p.m. at Fairfield Inn & Suites, 7775 Ella Lane. Toys will be collected for students in South Fulton’s District 4.

Councilman Mark Baker has partnered with the Q Parker Legacy Foundation to host Caroling with Q Parker & Friends on December 16 at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Southern Exchange Ballroom, 200 Peachtree Street.

Councilwoman Rosie Jackson will host an Ugly Sweater Party at Burdett Park Gymnasium, 2945 Burdett Road, on December 20 at 6:30 p.m.. Ham vouchers will be available while supplies last. She’ll also host a Christmas Gala on December 21 at 7 p.m. at Diamond Hall, 5495 Old National Highway.

Councilman khalid and Cornerstone Fellowship’s Annual Toy Giveaway will be held Saturday, December 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Volunteers will be collecting toy donations and putting together gift bags the Thursday and Friday before the event. Donations of unwrapped gifts for children 12 and under are requested. Wingo from the R&B group Jagged Edge is also expected to make a special appearance. The church is located at 331o Bethsaida Road.
