125 Donors Needed for Citywide Blood Drive in South Fulton

The American Red Cross is partnering with The City of South Fulton and the Office of the Chaplain to hold a citywide blood drive on September 27 aimed at raising awareness for the urgent need for blood. The drive is also being held to encourage minority and faith-based communities to give now in honor of Sickle Cell Awareness Month in September. Sickle cell disease is the most common genetic blood disease in the U.S., and patients often require regular blood transfusions. Transfusions from blood donors of the same ethnic background are most beneficial as they have less chance of causing complications for the recipient. “It is vital that the blood supply for the Red Cross reflect the diversity of our population to best meet the needs of all,” said City Chaplain Warren Henry. “Whethe...

Landon Milligan, age 9, had a successful heart transplant at just six months old. But a year later, he suffered from bacterial meningitis, which caused brain damage. As a result, Landon is non-mobile and non-verbal, but communicates through laughs and smiles. Some of Landon’s favorite pastimes are spending time outside in the sunshine and shower time. To help make shower time easier for Landon and his family, Sunshine on a Ranney Day in partnership with Make a Wish Georgia is completing a total bathroom renovation. County Responds to City’s to Lawsuit: We’ve Exhausted All Practical Solutions

South Fulton’s transition from Fulton County has been anything but smooth. Over the two-year process, residents have watched city and county leadership haggle over assets and their costs. In May, Mayor William “Bill” Edwards announced the city’s intention to acquire the Wolf Creek Amphitheater in a formal “State of the City” address. But now, just three months later, negotiations with the county have turned sour and the city is taking legal action. Today, just outside of the amphitheater, Mayor Edwards and six members of the city council announced that the city has filed a lawsuit in Fulton Superior Court against the county to acquire the venue along with the Tom Lowe Shooting Range and the Southwest Arts Center. The city has already acquired all parks within its boundaries at ...
