South Fulton: Library Event Lineup for November

This month, a wide range of events are planned at South Fulton libraries for patrons of all ages. Whether you want to exercise your mind or your body, there’s something for everyone including workshops on homebuying and financial aid, homework help, art, book and scrabble clubs, yoga and much more.

Highlighted Event: A Literary Classic Comes to Life at Wolf Creek Library

Serenbe Playhouse presents “The Jungle Book” at Wolf Creek Library on Saturday, November 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. It’s the playhouse’s 10th anniversary season and they are returning to their roots with the first family show they’ve ever produced. Children will adore this wonderfully imaginative and creative take based on the famous stories of Rudyard Kipling.

Learning Spaces is designed for caregivers, childcare providers and children ages birth to 5. Join us for music and movement, early learner literacy activities and more. Snacks will be provided.  No registration required.

Tuesday, November 5 from 3:30 pm – 4:30 p.m.

Come and learn about money savings apps that will add money to your virtual bank. No registration is required.

Financial Aid Information Session for Teens and Adults
Tuesday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m.

Join us for a FREE workshop on financial aid with Ms. Emu from the Georgia Student Finance Commission and learn how to complete FASFA forms and more.  Participants will learn about the types of financial aid available to attend college.

Teen International Game Day
Wednesday, November 13 at 3:30 p.m.

International Game Week is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games. Join us for a day of play, fun and challenging your friends to games of your choosing.

Art Club for Kids
Thursday, November 14 at 4:00 p.m.

Art Club meets every 2nd Thursday of the month. Registration required for groups of 10 or more.

Bring your creativity and a friend to art club! This month we are making fall art projects using mixed media. Selected art work will be displayed in the Children’s Area. Registration required for a group of 10 or more.

Teen De-stress Wednesday: (Balloon Stress Balls)
Wednesday, November 20 at 3:30 p.m.

A stress ball is a squeezable ball that can help calm nerves, anger, anxiety, and more for both adults and children. You can keep stress balls on hand at home, school, work, or on the go for whenever you may want to de-stress. Teens join us for a free workshop on alleviating stress from school and day to day events that can leave you feeling overwhelmed. No registration is required.

Beginners Computer Class For Seniors

This computer course is designed for seniors with limited skills and hands on experience with computers. The session covers how to access, create, save and manage documents, and use the Internet effectively.

Teen Book Tasting Event

Need a new book for the month? Then come to Teens Book Tasting Event! Each guest will be able to move around the room and get a “taste” of a variety of new and popular books. Come and mingle and talk about the great books that are in our collection! No registration is required.

An Afternoon of Jazz

Death Café Education Series
Tuesday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. & Sunday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m.

At a Death Café people, often strangers, gather to drink coffee or tea, enjoy cake and discuss death. A Death Café is a fun (yes, fun!) group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session.  The objective of Death Café’ is to increase awareness of death with a viewing to helping people make the most of their (finite) Lives. Hosted by Lisa C. Oliver, EdD.  Death, Dying and Bereavement Educator.  Adults only.

Preschool Storytime
Tuesdays, November 5, 12,19, & 26 at 10:15 a.m.

It is a fun early literacy program for kids ages 4-up and their caregivers. Join us for an hour of interactive stories, songs, rhymes, games, and accompanying activities perfect for preschoolers. The early literacy practices featured each Tuesday helps build the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. For parents and caregivers, Storytime offers an opportunity to experience early literacy practices in action, to discover great books, music, and digital media great for sharing with children at home, and to socialize with other parents after Storytime.
