HBCU-ish: The Truth about HBCUs

October 17, 2019 @ 6:00 pm

Free

The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Inc., an affiliate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Tai Epsilon Omega Chapter, welcomes high school students and their parents for a panel discussion on the importance of considering HBCUs when enrolling into college. Panelists will provide their perspective of the relevancy of HBCUs to the higher education arena, industry sectors, and local communities. In addition, panelists will share their reasons for attending an HBCU and their alma mater specifically, their college experiences, and how those experiences shaped them personally and professionally. The purpose of this panel discussion is to engage in an open discussion with students and parents concerning why HBCUs are a viable college option, reducing negative myths of HBCUs, and showcasing how these collegiate experiences will enrich the lives of the students and set the foundation for future personal and professional successes.
