If you’ll be trick-or-treating in your neighborhood, South Fulton Fire Rescue offers several tips for keeping children safe. Avoid costumes with long, trailing fabric and make sure kids can see clearly through their masks. Walk where there are streetlights if possible and bring a bright flashlight.

Use battery-operated candles or glow sticks in jack-o-lanterns if you’re decorating this year. And keep exits clear of decorations so nothing blocks escape routes in the event of a fire or other emergency.

The Observer wishes you a safe and happy Halloween!
