Early Voting Begins for South Fulton Council Races

Ahead of the city of South Fulton’s general election on November 5 to select councilmembers in Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7, residents will have an opportunity to participate in early voting.

Early voting will take place Tuesday, October 15 to Friday, October 25 from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and Monday, October 28 to Friday, November 1 from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday voting will take place on October 26 from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday voting is not available.

Early voting sites are throughout the county for general municipal elections in Fulton. Voters can select from: Alpharetta Branch Library; College Park Historical Building; East Point Branch Library; East Roswell Branch Library; Fairburn Library; Milton Branch Library; Park Place at Newtown; Roswell City Hall; South Fulton Service Center; and Wolf Creek Branch Library.

Early voting for the South Fulton council race and for the Fulton County Commission District 6 race will overlap today at Wolf Creek Library. Voting for both races will take place in different sections of the library, and voters will cast their ballots separately.

South Fulton City Council Candidates

In District 1, Mathis Ben Colquitt, a network engineer will challenge Councilwoman Catherine Foster Rowell.

In District 5, Councilwoman Rosie Jackson will face three opponents: Corey Alan Reeves, vice president; Clyde Eugene Sampson, II, baggage handler; and Duane L. McClain, educational specialist.

Reeves previously faced off against Jackson in 2017 in the city council election earning 48.55 percent of the vote in the run-off.

In District 7, Eric L Richardson, retired, will oppose Mayor Pro Tem Mark Baker. No stranger to politics, Richardson currently serves as the Political Director for the Fulton Democrats.

District 3 Councilwoman Helen Willis is unopposed.

A forum for candidates in Districts 1, 5 and 7 will take place at Friendship Community Church in South Fulton on Thursday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 4141 Old Fairburn Road.
