Star-Studded Event Marks Official Opening of Gocha’s Breakfast Bar

Last Thursday, the stars shined a little brighter as South Fulton resident Gocha Hawkins celebrated the official grand opening of her upscale breakfast cafe, Gocha’s Breakfast Bar. The star-studded event was co-hosted by Hennessy VSOP Privilege and featured some of the cafe’s signature dishes, including shrimp and grits, “Krunch-Tastic” french toast, “Better Than Yo Momma” biscuits and candied maple bacon.
Mayor William “Bill” Edwards, Mayor Pro Tem Mark Baker and Councilwomen Catherine Foster Rowell and Carmalitha Gumbs joined Hawkins for the ribbon cutting ceremony, as did South Fulton Chamber President Dyan Matthews and Merlin Knight, vice president of membership services.
Other special guests included Rasheeda Frost (“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”), author Monyetta Shaw, Malaysia Pargo (“Basketball Wives”), Khalilah Abdul-Baqi (Ego Entertainment), WNBA athlete Angel McCoughtry, R&B singer Sammie, Je’ Wesley (Cocktail Chronicles) and consultant Greg Cole, among others.
The cafe is Hawkins’ first restaurant venture. The author and salon owner became a household name as a cast member of the reality television series “L.A. Hair.” Her star-studded client list includes Nicki Minaj, Kandi Burruss, Serena Williams and Beyonce.
Gocha’s Breakfast Bar is located at 3695 Cascade Road, Suite 440 inside the Publix shopping center and is open Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and until 4:00 p.m. on weekends. The space is available to rent for evening events, meetings or parties. The menu, which includes Southern-style pescatarian and vegan-friendly dishes, is online at www.gochasbreakfastbar.com.
