South Fulton Department Budget Presentations Begin Aug. 16

Ahead of the start of the fiscal year on Oct. 1, South Fulton will hold a series of department budget presentations. The presentations will be held over two full days, Tuesday, Aug. 16 and Thursday, Aug. 18, starting at 10 a.m. City staff will provide an overview of their budget requests, including those related to economic development, parks, police and public works. Last year's budget focused on "resilience, inclusion, strength and experience," and included over $90 million in investments into public safety, transportation, technology and other critical areas. FY2020 Budget Passes after Mayor Breaks Tie

During a final budget hearing at City Hall held on September 18, the city of South Fulton adopted its FY2020 budget. The total budget of $105,912,402 covers operating revenues, expenditures and capital investments. The city is expected to collect $73,821,952 in general fund revenue. Also anticipated is over $17 million in TSPLOST funds. For the first time, the budget also includes loan funds through the city's new Urban Redevelopment Agency (URA) to tackle capital improvements. City Manager Transmits $100 Million Budget Draft; Public Hearing Set for Aug. 27

A draft of South Fulton’s FY2020 budget is now available for review. Among the city’s budget priorities are to increase staffing capacity, grow commercial business revenues, make improvements to roads and parks, and brand and market the city. Total anticipated revenue for FY2020 is $104,913,204. Of those dollars: general refund revenue totals $72,117,952; TSPLOST dollars total $17,951,476; $4,595,560 will come from restricted grants for federally funded road projects; and $9,448,216 is for capital projects.
