Comcast Awards Grant, Laptops at City Council Meeting

Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs mobilized more than 200 volunteers earlier this year for her annual Earth Day community cleanup event in partnership with Comcast Cares. To reward the councilwoman and District 2 residents for their efforts, Comcast presented a grant in the amount of $3,300 at last night's city council meeting. Willis, Gumbs Team up to Court Small Business Owners at Tennis Center Event

The city of South Fulton is ramping up its efforts to attract new small business owners and cultivate relationships with those already in city limits. Tonight, Councilwomen Helen Z. Willis and Carmalitha Gumbs will host a "Business Showcase" at the South Fulton Tennis Center (5645 Mason Road) starting at 5:00 p.m. Business owners will have an opportunity to network with elected officials and the city's administrators, as well as other movers and shakers across a wide range of industries. Healthy South Fulton 2nd Annual Family Fun Day

Healthy South Fulton Family Fun Day returns to Sandtown Park on July 20 starting at 10:00 a.m. The annual event is sponsored by Touch of Life Chiropractic in partnership with Councilwomen Catherine Foster Rowell and Carmalitha Gumbs. The event connects families to local health care providers, youth services, and a variety of product vendors. More than 1,500 attendees are expected and an estimated 750 backpacks will be given away to help local students prepare for the upcoming school year.

The Atlanta Regional Commission recently announced that it has tapped 56 public, private, education and nonprofit leaders for the 2019 Regional Leadership Institute (RLI). Three City of South Fulton leaders have been selected: Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs; Stacy Blakley, associate, T.Y. Lin International; and Dwayne Patterson, vice president of strategy and engagement, The Partnership for Southern Equity.
