Conference Brings Media Pioneer Cathy Hughes to South Fulton

The Wise Women Prosper Conference kicks off on June 7 at the Aviation Cultural Community Center (3900 Aviation Circle). The three-day conference is billed as the “ultimate experience for women destined and determined to live purpose-filled lives.” This year’s theme is “Maximum Impact.”

Scheduled speakers on the June 8 agenda include City of South Fulton Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs, Shirley Luu, Bonnie Stinson Bond, Keyuna Faye Webster, Tenisha Bibbs, Dr. Victrena Washington, Charleen Ray and Twana Johnson. Cathy Hughes, founder and chairperson of Urban One, Inc. will appear as a special guest.

At the helm of Urban One, formerly Radio One, Cathy Hughes has made history as the first African-American woman to chair a publicly held corporation. She was also the first woman to own a radio station that was ranked number one in a major market. Admired widely for her philanthropy, she is a champion for the hungry and homeless, a mentor to countless women, and an advocate dedicated to empowering minority communities.

The Wise Women Prosper Conference is the brainchild of author, speaker and life coach Alonia Jones. She created the annual event to bring women together to share wisdom gained from life experiences.
