Half-Million Dollar Tennis Center Renovation Begins This Week

Coronavirus will not stop plans to rebuild the courts at the South Fulton Tennis Center. The half-million dollar renovation project is underway this week. Demolition began yesterday. The project is funded by the city's URA, which officials approved last year to manage more than $17 million in capital projects. Approximately $557,000 will be invested to not only rebuild 20 hard surface and four clay courts, but also install new nets, poles and other equipment. “This project will take our facility to the next level,” said Tony Phillips, director of the City of South Fulton’s Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs. Willis, Gumbs Team up to Court Small Business Owners at Tennis Center Event

The city of South Fulton is ramping up its efforts to attract new small business owners and cultivate relationships with those already in city limits. Tonight, Councilwomen Helen Z. Willis and Carmalitha Gumbs will host a "Business Showcase" at the South Fulton Tennis Center (5645 Mason Road) starting at 5:00 p.m. Business owners will have an opportunity to network with elected officials and the city's administrators, as well as other movers and shakers across a wide range of industries. Gallery: Venus Williams Visits South Fulton Tennis Center

Fresh off a win at the 2019 BB&T Atlanta Open women’s exhibition, Venus Williams stopped by the South Fulton Tennis Center to encourage young players. The visit was part of USTA’s Net Generation Campaign which aims to inspire and help build a new generation of tennis greats. Williams took time to hit a few balls, give high fives and offer pointers and words of encouragement to approximately 100 kids enrolled in the center's tennis camp.
