GreyStone Power Members to Receive Early Capital Credits Totaling Record $15 Million

GreyStone Power is sending its members capital credits early to help ease the hardship that many may face during the COVID-19 outbreak. The cooperative’s Board of Directors approved a record $15 million Capital Credits Early Refund. Members who had power with GreyStone in 2019 will receive a credit on their May bills. “This early capital credits return gives our members an additional form of support during a time of uncertainty. A coalition of nearly a dozen South Fulton County elected officials are speaking out against Governor Brian Kemp’s decision to begin reopening some businesses today. They are urging residents to stay at home and stay safe. “We need to stay the course, not jump onto a collision course” said East Point Councilmember Stephanie Gordon, and South Fulton Regional Elected Officials coalition member. A new online survey has been launched to learn how COVID-19 is impacting South Fulton businesses. City leaders hope the data will reveal how the businesses are faring financially and ways to support them. Some business owners are already reporting significant losses in revenue. "We're hearing from many of our businesses that revenue is down drastically," said Christopher Pike, economic development director. "The feedback provided in the survey will help inform the decision we make related to recovery efforts conducted by the city." Fund Launched to Provide Meals for South Fulton’s Front-Line Workers

A new fund aims to show support for City of South Fulton employees on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and help keep local restaurants afloat. The South Fulton United Fund will help provide lunches each day for approximately 250 employees in the city’s police, fire, parks and recreation, public works and permitting departments. Meals will be purchased from local restaurants that are feeling the financial pinch created by the virus outbreak. South Fulton Moves to Online Permitting System Starting April 6

In many cities across the U.S., the building permit application process has been halted to limit city personnel's interaction with the public amid COVID-19 concerns. However, some cities - including South Fulton - are quickly adapting, and moving operations online. Starting on April 6, South Fulton's Community Development and Regulatory Affairs Department will implement a paperless, online system for submitting, tracking and managing all permit applications, associated documents and building plans. In 2019 alone, South Fulton issued 1,957 building permits. South Fulton Orders Non-Essential Businesses to Close to the Public

The City of South Fulton has issued a shelter-in-place order. It will go into effect simultaneously with Governor Brian Kemp's order, which is expected tomorrow. It will be in place until April 16. Violators could face incarceration and fines up to $1,000. The order mandates that all non-essential businesses close to the public temporarily. Operations conducted by telephone, mail or electronically are permitted. Essential businesses include: grocery stores, pharmacies, hotels, restaurants, legal service providers, food banks, post offices, educational institutions, gas stations, financial institutions, hardware stores and nurseries, funeral establishments, laundromats, liquor stores, transportation providers and schools for the purpose of picking up food. Ace Hardware is opening in the Old National Marketplace shopping center next month and it’s a family affair. Warren Pegram and his stepson Charlston Austin, the store’s proprietors, invited the community into the 12,600 square-foot space on Friday to share their vision and values.
