Portion of Boat Rock Road Closed for Filming; Simulated Explosion Planned

From Monday, July 15 through Friday, a portion of Boat Rock Road between Binford Place and Cascade Hills Drive will be closed approximately 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day due to the filming of “The Outsider,” an HBO television series based on the work of Stephen King.

Also, one eastbound lane of Boat Rock Road between Cascade Hills Drive and Mitchell Crossing Drive will be closed. Motorists traveling to and from the Cascade Hills Subdivision via Boat Rock Road will still have the ability to travel that route with the assistance of flaggers on site.

Detour routes are available along New Hope Road, Reynolds Road, Bakers Ferry Road, Camp Creek Pkwy and Fulton Industrial Boulevard. A map (below) being circulated by the city of South Fulton illustrates closures and detour routes.

Residents have been advised that during one of the days of filming, a simulated car explosion is planned. City of South Fulton police and fire personnel will be on standby, along with emergency medical personnel.

“The Outsider” began filming in the metro area in February. According to a letter circulated to residents in the area, this week is the last week of filming on Boat Rock Road.
