Camp Creek Pkwy DDI Bridge ‘Crossover Weekend’ Rescheduled for Feb. 7-10

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will close the Camp Creek Pkwy. Bridge in Fulton County for two weekend days starting Friday night.

Following postponements in November 2019 and January due to weather conditions, the contractors have scheduled the crossover weekend for Feb. 7-10. As previously reported contractors will need a continuous weekend shut-down from traffic in order to complete the new DDI configuration.

During the closures, crews will check operations of the new traffic signals and ensure that the new permanent lane striping is in the correct configuration for the DDI, and complete other work in safe conditions without traffic interruption.

Crews will close the bridge at 9 pm on Friday, Feb. 7 and reopen the interchange in its new configuration on, Monday, Feb. 10. at 5 a.m. All exit and entrance ramps from I-285 to Camp Creek Pkwy. will be accessible.

Aerotropolis CIDs and the City of East Point have indicated that during the transition weekend, traffic heading to Camp Creek Pkwy. and I-285 will be detoured around the closures via N. Commerce Road/Redwine Road/Desert Dr to connect back to Camp Creek Pkwy.  All commercial vehicles should utilize I-20 and I-285 during the closure. Message boards with detour information, signs and police presence will alert drivers of the closures in advance.

The overall completion date is set for May 2020. As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
