Early voting in Georgia for the May 24 Primary Election begins today. 30 polling sites are available in Fulton County.
Residents will be able to vote from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily, including weekend voting on Saturdays and Sundays. Early voting will end on Friday, May 20.
During early voting, absentee ballot drop boxes will be available at seven early voting locations, including Wolf Creek Library. Drop boxes are located inside early voting locations and are only accessible during early voting hours.
Among the high profile contests on the ballot include races for Georgia governor and U.S. senate. Gov. Brian Kemp faces Stacey Abrams again, among others. And Sen. Raphael Warnock is hard at work to hold on to his new seat.
Former South Fulton City Councilmember Mark Baker will challenge Rep. David Scott (D-13). Other candidates in the race include Caesar Gonzales, Dominika Hawkins, Calina Plotky, Shastity Driscoll and Vincent Fort.
At the state level, Sen. Donzella James (D-35) will be challenged by Lula Gilliam, Mike Glanton, Jr. and Whitney Kenner Jones. Sen. Horacena Tate(D-38) faces opposition from Melody Bray, Michael Carson and Adam Petty. Sen. Sonya Halpern (D-39) is unopposed.
Additionally, Rep. Roger Bruce (D-61) is up against challengers Robert Dawson, Rashaun Kemp and Monique McCoy. Former Rep. William Boddie (D-62) is making a bid for Commissioner of Labor and will not seek re-election. Candidates Thomas Calloway, Tanya Miller and Josh Noblitt will compete for the seat. Rep. Mandisha Thomas (D-65) and Rep. Debra Bazemore (D-69) are opposed by Jan Horne and Cobie Lyrix Brown, respectively.
In Fulton County, Board of Commissioners Chairperson Robb Pitts is up against Jewel Johnson and Sonya Russell. District 5 Commissioner Marvin Arrington, Jr. faces Robert H. Kelly and Andre R. Sales.
Fulton County District 6 School Board Representative Kimberly R. Dove will be challenged again by Latonya Martin Rogers.
