After Undefeated, History-Making Season, Banneker Retires Hall’s Racket

Banneker High School's tennis program was relaunched just two years ago by Coach Patricia Swift. Already, the school is making history. During the 2019 season, Banneker's Bryce Hall went undefeated and earned the distinction of becoming the school's first-ever Georgia High School Association's Region 6-AAAAA Tennis Player of the Year. In recognition of his achievement, his racket has been retired and is now on display on the high school's campus. “I hope to see Bryce playing in the U. S. Open and Wimbledon one day,” Coach Swint said. “I’m not sure that’s what he wants to do, but I hope that whatever he chooses to do will make him happy.” Whatever the path, Hall has demonstrated that he has what it takes to be successful. His perseverance is just one of the traits that helped him ...

We want to reinforce that despite the data, these students are not destined for failure. No matter their hardships, they are not forgotten.” Councilwoman Willis was joined by Mayor W...

South Fulton Voices: Planning a Successful School Year

Editorial by Samuel Wakefield As we get ready to head back to school, I figure that this is a good opportunity to provide parents such as myself with a bit of a pep talk to begin the year. Make no mistake about it, the start of a new school year can be just as daunting for parents as it is for the child. Already, we have bags of schools supplies that need to be sorted, uniforms that need to be organized, hair that needs to be done (remember we’ve got 4 girls)…the list goes on. This only represents the cosmetic part of preparing for the school year. We haven’t even begun to talk with the girls yet about their goals for the year or how they’re feeling. For parents in the throes of raising children (particularly young kids), the back to school season can be fraught with land mines of a...
