Old National District to Hold Advisory Board Meeting on May 19

The Old National District (OND) Advisory Board will hold an advisory meeting on Thursday, May 19 at 11 a.m. The meeting will be held at South Fulton City Hall at 5440 Fulton Industrial Blvd. in the breakroom. Space is limited. When capacity is reached, visitors will be encouraged to watch the meeting online.  The meeting will be livestreamed via Zoom. The meeting ID and passcode are located below. South Fulton Parkway Alliance to Meet May 12

The South Fulton Parkway Alliance will hold its monthly meeting on May 12 at 9 a.m. The event will be streamed via Zoom. The organization will welcome special guest speaker Pierre Sackey, Elevate Douglas Data Center Consultant. Sackey will discuss strategic data center construction, and commissioning in Douglas County. Sackey is the President of Apollo Mission Critical Engineering, a strategic provider of Data Center Construction Quality Control and Commissioning to global technology companies. South Fulton residents and business owners have been sharing their input on the future of economic development in the city. It’s part of the process to develop the city’s economic development strategic plan. So far, the city has solicited feedback via an online survey and events at Welcome All Park, Burdett Community Center and South Fulton Tennis Center. This week, SWOT analysis sessions began at Sandtown Park, giving attendees an opportunity to weigh in on the city’s strengths and weaknesses. The city of South Fulton is ramping up its efforts to attract new small business owners and cultivate relationships with those already in city limits. Tonight, Councilwomen Helen Z. Willis and Carmalitha Gumbs will host a "Business Showcase" at the South Fulton Tennis Center (5645 Mason Road) starting at 5:00 p.m. Business owners will have an opportunity to network with elected officials and the city's administrators, as well as other movers and shakers across a wide range of industries. Development Authority to Meet on July 10

The South Fulton Development Authority will meet on Wednesday, July 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott (7775 Ella Lane). Although the group first met in May at Welcome All Park, this will be their first meeting since being sworn in on June 11. In December 2018, the city council voted to activate the development authority for the "purpose of developing and promoting the public good and general welfare, trade, commerce, industry and employment opportunities." Authority members' general duties include analyzing economic activity in the city, studying the impact of growth, and creating and implementing plans for the development of public or private facilities. South Fulton Taps BAE for Economic Development Strategic Plan

At the end of March, South Fulton's city council unanimously passed a resolution authorizing an agreement with BAE Urban Economics. The firm has been tapped to prepare the city's economic development strategic plan. “I am excited about the council’s decision," said Odie Donald II, city manager.
