City of South Fulton Zoning Rewrite Workshop

The City of South Fulton is updating its zoning ordinance. Citizens are invited to participate in upcoming workshops to learn more about the process and provide input. Workshops will be held on June 13 (Cedar Grove Community Bldg.), June 17 (Welcome All Park), June 18 (South Fulton Service Center) and June 27 (Burdett Recreation Center Gym). Input is also being solicited via a zoning ordinance survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CoSF_ZoningOrdinance. Feedback can also be submitted to [email protected].

City of South Fulton Work Session and Regular Meeting

South Fulton's Mayor and City Council will hold a work session and regular meeting on Tuesday, June 11 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. respectively. Cam Newton Brings Enrich One Camp to South Fulton

Carolina Panthers Quarterback and South Fulton native Cam Newton is bringing the Enrich One Summer Camp Enrichment Program to his hometown this summer. The fun-filled camp sponsored by the Cam Newton Foundation gives children ages 6-14 exposure to experiential learning opportunities through STEM activities, college tours and fine arts. The summer enrichment program begins Monday, June 10 and will end Friday, July 19. Parents can register their children at The Kingdom of God International Ministry (4590 Welcome All Road) starting on Monday, June 3.  The City of South Fulton hosted its Senior Royale Gala on May 23 at Prince Hall Grand Lodge. Now in its second year, the event takes place during Older Americans Month. Georgia Public Broadcasting's Donna Lowry served as the event's emcee. Special guests included State Senator Donzella James, State Senator Nikema Williams and State Representative Sharon Beasley-Teague. Fulton County Commissioner Natalie Hall was the gala's guest speaker. The series continues on June 7 with a screening of "Love Jones" starring Larenz Tate and Nia Long. City of South Fulton Fire Stations will serve as cooling stations during the Memorial Day weekend heat wave. The heat wave warning, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), states that Georgia will see record high temperatures this weekend. “All City of South Fulton Fire Stations are designed to be a place of refuge from severe weather,” stated Interim Fire Chief Jack Butler. “We encourage residents to take precautions to stay safe during the warm weather by reducing strenuous activity and drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated.” Residents and non-residents can visit any of the below fire stations to seek refuge from the heat. Judge Rules Landfill Owner in Compliance

Tandy Bullock, the owner of the Bishop Road Landfill, went before Superior Court Judge Constance Russell during a compliance hearing earlier today. The hearing was held to determine if Bullock was in compliance with an order to extinguish the fire that had been burning on his property since September 2018. Bullock's attorney, Charles T. Brant and an attorney representing the State of Georgia jointly testified before the judge that the fire had been extinguished. Satisfied with what was presented by the litigants, Judge Russell ruled in Bullock's favor. The decision came as a disappointment for residents who attended the hearing wearing shirts that read "No Landfills, No Warehouses" on the front and "South Fulton Lives Matter" on the back.
