Event organizers are adapting to social distancing requirements and moving many events online. Several meetings and events will be held via Zoom, Facebook, Instagram and other streaming platforms this week. The City of South Fulton is celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week. A series of events are planned, including community conversations with experts from the Small Business Administration, Georgia Power, UGA Small Business Development Center, GreyStone Power and more. Public Input Needed on Beltline-Like Project in South Fulton

The City of South Fulton is one of seven jurisdictions that will be home to the AeroATL Greenway, a multi-use trail system that’s part of Aerotropolis Atlanta’s master plan. A virtual public meeting will be held on April 21 at 2 p.m. to gather community input on the city's "model mile." The proposed model mile site in South Fulton is located adjacent to Camp Creek Parkway. Potential access points within the study area include potential access points include Wolf Creek Amphitheater, Tom Lowe Trap and Skeet Range, Wolf Creek Library, Wolf Creek Golf Club, and Vandiver Lake. Atlanta Science Festival Headed to South Fulton

The Atlanta Science Festival is underway. The annual two-week celebration of science and technology kicked off on March 6. And more than 100 related events will be held in the metro area through March 21. One of those events, Family Science Night, will take place in South Fulton at Stonewall Tell Elementary School on March 12 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event for all ages is free and open to the public, and will feature experiments, hands-on activities and even door prizes. Attendees will rotate through various stations to explore concepts such as food science, animal science, agriscience, 3D printing, biological science and more. The Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Con., will host a hiring event on Thursday, February 27 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Gate Gourmet, the world's largest independent provider of airline catering services, will hire on the spot for drivers, driver helpers, food preparers, dishwashers, custodians and equipment assemblers. ‘A Song for Coretta’ Opens Tonight at South Fulton Arts Center

New African Grove Theatre Company's production of "A Song for Coretta" opens tonight at the South Fulton Arts Center. The play is written by Pearl Cleage and directed by Keith Franklin, the company's artistic director. The one-act drama pays homage to civil rights icon Coretta Scott King. It takes place on February 6, 2006 as people line up outside of Ebenezer Baptist Church to pay their respects as her body lays in state in the small sanctuary.The play's cast of five characters are at the rear of a long line of mourners: a respectable society widow, over 40, who met Mrs. King as a child; a pushy college wannabe journalist; a middle-aged portrait artist and Katrina survivor; a street-smart, wise-mouthed teenage mother-to-be; and a traumatized Iraq war veteran contemplating desertion. ...

In addition to the regularly-sold tonics that the store is known for, the Camp Creek location will host a free seminar on "Heart Health & Symptoms of High Blood Pressure" on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. The store's expert herbalist will share how diet, stress and environmental toxins can result in heart dysfunction, plus ways to protect and improve circulatory health. According to Fulton County government officials, heart disease accounts for 1,300 deaths annually among local residents. Councilman Khalid to Hold Voting Rights Town Hall

Councilman Khalid Kamau will host a Voting Rights Town Hall on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. The event will be held at Pinetree Park Baptist Church, 2855 Bethsaida Road. The program will begin with a screening of "Suppressed: The Fight to Vote." The documentary by Robert Greenwald weaves together personal stories from voters across the state of Georgia of voter suppression in the 2018 midterm election. Issues highlighted in the film include polling place closures, voter purges, missing absentee ballots, extreme wait times and voter ID issues.
