‘First Fridays’ Continues at Creel Park on June 7

Councilman khalid kamau has launched a "First Fridays" outdoor film screening series at Creel Park (2775 Creel Road). The series continues on June 7 with a screening of "Love Jones" starring Larenz Tate and Nia Long. The councilman aims to leverage the event to drive greater awareness of South Fulton and build a stronger sense of community. Each screening includes a community conversation about the themes in each film. On June 7, the film will begin after sundown following a live taping of "Relationship Talk Atlanta," a podcast featuring South Fulton residents Torrey and Tiffaney Tomlinson. Conference Brings Media Pioneer Cathy Hughes to South Fulton

The Wise Women Prosper Conference kicks off on June 7 at the Aviation Cultural Community Center (3900 Aviation Circle). South Fulton Announces Series of Community Cleanups

As Earth Day approaches, the City of South Fulton has announced a series of community cleanups. The first kicks off on March 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church (6175 Campbellton Road) in partnership with Mayor William "Bill" Edwards. It will include a health fair. The fair will feature health screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, vision and dental and physical fitness. Attendees can also take advantage of free car seat checks, line dancing, games, refreshments and document shredding. Youth Poetry Slam Puts Focus on Social Justice, Arts, Literacy

The Pamela D. Franklin Center for the Performing Arts (PDFCCPA) has partnered with the Spelman College Justice Fellows Program to host the inaugural ATL Youth Poetry Slam. Youth ages 13-19 interested in participating can attend an information session on February 2 at noon at the Aviation Community Cultural Center located at 3900 Aviation Cir.
