"The Athlete of the Mic" contest is back. Children’s Book Festival Set for May 14

A new Children's Book Festival is coming to the metro area thanks to the Fulton County Library System, Atlanta-Fulton Public Library Foundation and presenting sponsor PNC Bank. South Fulton City Manager to Give TED Talk on the ‘Future of Work’

South Fulton City Manager Odie Donald II will deliver a TED talk on "The Future of Work: Is a Job Enough" on August 17 at Frederick Douglass High School. Prior to joining the city as its head administrator, Donald was the Director of the Washington, D.C. Department of Employment Services. He is credited with helping nearly half a million people find jobs through government programs. Launched 30 years ago, TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to "ideas worth spreading." The organization's annual conferences feature talks by the world's leading thinkers and doers including Bill Gates and Sir Richard Branson. The Atlanta Regional Commission recently announced that it has tapped 56 public, private, education and nonprofit leaders for the 2019 Regional Leadership Institute (RLI). Three City of South Fulton leaders have been selected: Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs; Stacy Blakley, associate, T.Y. Overnight Lane Closures at I-285 and Camp Creek

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) crews will implement overnight lane closures this weekend in conjunction with ongoing construction of the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) project at I-285 and State Route 6/ Camp Creek Parkway in Fulton County. Weather permitting, these are the scheduled lane closures on I-285 northbound at the Camp Creek Parkway exit: Two right lanes will be closed overnight from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31 until 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, and Two left lanes will be closed overnight from 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 until 4:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3. Traffic will be paced on I-285 northbound at Camp Creek when work crews are ready to remove the exit bridge overhang.
