‘The Voice’ Finalist to Headline GreyStone’s Annual Meeting

GreyStone Power’s Annual Meeting of Members will have a little more star power this year. Kirk Jay, a 2018 finalist on NBC's “The Voice” will be headlining this year's event. A self-proclaimed “plain old country boy,” Jay was raised in the rural city of Bay Minette, Ala. He grew up listening to country music on the radio because that was the only station their old radio could play. He says listening to country music taught him about life, love and broken hearts. His style, musical tastes and sound is all country, which he developed from listening and singing along with various country western artists. Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs mobilized more than 200 volunteers earlier this year for her annual Earth Day community cleanup event in partnership with Comcast Cares. The Fulton Industrial Boulevard CID will hold its next quarterly meeting on September 5. Representatives from Fulton County will discuss proposed improvements for Fulton County Airport - Charlie Brown Field. An estimated $120 million is expected to be invested throughout the next decade and beyond. The presentation will also detail other district investments, including $3 million in road surfacing projects in 2019 and an expected $4 million in 2020. South Fulton residents Paris and Ashley Hill, the owners of Sliders Burger Joint, have moved their business closer to home. The couple celebrated the grand re-opening of their restaurant in the city of Fairburn on August 16. “Location is everything,” said Paris Hill, who’s been in the restaurant business for over 10 years. “We started off on Jonesboro Road in 2017 where we won best burger through the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Old National Merchants Association to Hold 5K on Sept. 14

The Old National Merchants Association (ONMA) will hold its annual 5K run/walk on Saturday, September 14. Check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. at 5495 Old National Highway. The race, which begins at 8:30 a.m., is an official Peachtree Road Race qualifying event. Early registration is open until September 2. The entry fee is $25 for adult runners or walkers and $10 for participants 17 and under. Proceeds will benefit the ONMA scholarship fund and other initiatives. Founded in 1989, ONMA was launched to create a healthy economic environment for merchants and the community. Georgia Roots Urban Farm is open for business in the city of South Fulton, and residents are already taking advantage of having farm-fresh produce in their backyard. A variety of fruits and vegetables are available through the farm's community supported agriculture (CSA) program, a subscription-based harvest box available for pick up twice a month. Additionally, its farm store is open Friday through Sunday at 3415 Enon Road. The farm's owners, Kennise and Kwesi Elder, hosted members of the community during a mixer on June 7, and opened their farm store on June 14. So far, their inventory has included kale, collards, okra, peaches, blueberries, seeded watermelon, eggs, a variety of fresh herbs and more. Adams & Co. to Break Ground on Publix at Sandtown Crossing This Fall

Adams & Co. Real Estate Inc. will break ground on a 48,387-square-foot Publix this fall in Sandtown Crossing in the City of South Fulton. The new Publix will be flanked by two 8,200-square-foot buildings and is scheduled to open in fall 2020. The grocer will join a CVS/pharmacy, 15,000 square feet of retail space and 18,000 square feet of office space. According to John Perlman, principal at Adams & Co. Real Estate Inc., the Publix will be a state-of-the-art, prototype store.
